ABSTRACT The study examines the effect of information communication technology (ICT) on the Nigerian banking sector, Abia state. A Taro Yemen’s sampling technique was used to select 297 respondents of which only 150 respondents responded and 147 were unretumed through the questioner anddescriptive and inferential percentage method and chi- square test of independent analysis was adopted to measure the objective and hypothesis such as, todetermine the extent which internet web transaction has impact on branch expansion of deposit money bank, evaluate the impact ofmobile payments transaction on operational and service delivery of deposit money bank and discover the influence ATM transactions have on profitability levels of deposit money bank, the computation of the result was done using the statistical packages for social sciences, SPSS version 25.0. The result shows that, the adoption of various forms of information and communication technology has greatly influenced the quality of banking operations, performance and has specifically increased banks profitability levels. Information and communication technology usage can sustain the profit earning of deposit money banks in the long run. The study recommends that, investment in information and communication technology should form an important component in the overall strategy of banking operation, as these will make Nigerian banks to be more efficient, profitable, and competitive.
