Impact Of Accounting System On He Performance Of Small And Medium Scale Enterprise In Nigeria (A Study Of Selected, Small And Medium Enterprise In Umuahia)

Abstract.

This study was carried out to empirically ascertain the impact of accounting system on the performance of small and.,medium enterprises in Umuahia, Abia State. To support the necessary statistiscal analysis, primary data was sourced throz'gh the administration of questionnaire in afield survey and the sample size of 45 respondents. The primary data were analyses using descriptive statistics (Frequency and• percentage) and chi-square analysis The empirical results from the statistical ahalysis of the primary data indicated Accounting system has sign ficant impact on profitability of small and medium scale enteipise in Urnuahia, Abia state and' also that Multiple taxation, poor accounting system, poor management, uns'able government policy have signIcani impact on growth of small and medium scale enterprise in Umuahia, Abia state, it was recommended that Small and A'Iediuni Enterprises should be levied lower amounts of taxes so that they will have enough funds for other activities that will lead to business growth. Furthermore it will help SMEs get better equipped Ic survive in a competitive market.
