ABSTRACT

 This study is to examine the impact of accounting on the profitability of small scale enterprise. Random samples of 28 persons were chosen from the total population of 30 persons. Questionnaires were used for my primary data collection. Data analysis was done using chi-square statistical tool and frequency distribution percentage. The first major finding arrived at, after analyzing the data obtained was that about 66.7% of the many small scale enterprise do not maintain adequate accounting recording. It was also established that about 66.6% of the job of record keeping in small scale business is under taken by the owners. The analysis runned shows that. many small scale enterprise has significant relationship with inadequate accounting information. And also that inadequacy of accounting information has significant relationship wi.th the profitability of small scale enterprise. i.e .chi-square computed is greater than chi-square tabulated. The small scale enterprise should. Be encourage to keep accounting service of qualified accountant, the government should establish more industrial development centre to embark on training of small scale buin owners, In the areas of management; proper record keeping analysis and the need for accounting nit heeded by competent accountant in their businesses.
