ABSTRACT
The leaves of Persea americana were analyzed for its bioactive compounds. The phytochemical analysis confirms the quantitative presence of flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, tannins, phenols which are bio-protective to the body system. The Gas Chromatography- Mass Spectrum (GC-MS) analysis of the ethanolic extracts showed the presence of two esters comprising of [I]Hexadecanoic acid methyl ester.[2] Octadecanoic acid methyl ester. The result authenticates the use of the leaves in the treatment of wound, convulsion and reduction of high blood pressure.
