Exploring the Roles of Libraries and Library Education in Achieving Sustainable Development GOAL 4 in Nigeria:- Amogu Uma K

The concepts ofeducation and library education are defined, and the role oflibraries and library education in achieving Sustainable Development Goal 4 inNigeria through accessto quality education, promotion ofliteracy and support for lifelong learning, are highlighted. The paper also discussed the importance oflibrary education in equipping librarians with the necessary skills and knowledge to support SDG 4. It identified some challenges faced by libraries and library education in achieving this goal in Nigeria, and pointed out some strategies, which libraries can employ to overcome the identified challenges. The paper argues that, by leveraging the potential oflibraries and library education, Nigeria can make progress towards achieving SDG 4, and promoting quality education. The paper concluded with a call for action on government and other stakeholders, including library institutions and establishments to adopt the suggested strategies, such as partnership, collaboration, and fostering community engagement among others.
