The water quality profile of Umuariaga was estimated in this project work. The physical parameters, chemical parameters, heavy metal and microbial parameters were determined. The standard methods of analysis set by WHO were used. Almost all the values were below WHO standards except values of microbial parameters which had the concentrations of 0(MPN/100ml) for faecal Coliform Bacteria, O(MPN/100ml) for Total Coliform Bacteria and 8.0 x 10(cfu/ml) for Total Heterotrophic Bacteria, which are all in compliance with the WHO standard of 0(MPN/100ml), 0-2(MPN/100ml) and < 100 (cfu/ml) respectively. Though, In Situ results like pH. Temperature and Conductivity can be altered due to distance, environment and time. The pH is acidic with the value of 3.70. Based on the results, the potable groundwater in Umuariaga is not safe for drinking because most ofthe values are not in compliance with the WHO standards. It is therefore, necessary to disinfect the potable groundwater before human use to avoid the risk of contracting water-borne diseases.
