ABSTRACT
The antically properties of certain medicinal plants were tested. This work was based on direct invitro susceptibility testing of the inhibitory effects of the plants on Candida albicans. Several forms of this diseases are known; thrush, vulvovaginal candidiasis etc. These microorganisms are from human sources as (HVS) high vaginal swab. Among the plant extracts that were prepared, about four of them showed inhibitory potentials like Xy!opia aethopica, Chiorophora exceisa, Piper nigrum and Carica papaya seeds, while Cocos nucifera, Desmodium gangeticum and Tugia Sp failed to inhibit. From the results, Xylopia aetheopia inhibits for 5 day's at a growth length of 0.8cm for cold extract and 4 days for hot extract at a growth length of 0.6cm. Piper nigrum inhibited for 4 days at 0.6cm for cold extract and 0.5cm for hot extract. Chlorophora excelsa inhibited for 5 days at a growth length of 0.8cm for cold extract and 0.6cm for hot extract. Carica papaya inhibited for 4 days at a growth length of 0.5cm for cold and 0.3cm for 5 days for hot extract. Tugia sp had a 0.1cm inhibition for a day in cold extract and nil inhibition in hot extract. Desmodium gangeticum inhibited a growth length of 0.2cm for a day in cold extract and nil in hot extract. While Cocos nucifera showed no inhibitions both as a cold or hot extract.
