Effect Of Various Sreatment On The Nutritional Value Of Rice Milling Waste (Rmw) For Finisher Broiler

ABSTRACT
One hundred and fifty 5 weeks-old broilers were used to ' determine the effects of treated or untrerated rice milling waste + (RMW) on growth performance of broiler finishers. A total of 5 | experimental broiler finisher diets were formulated. Treatment 1 was the control which had no RMW. Treatments 2,3,4 and 5 ; diets were formulated using untreated, urea, potash and water - treated RMW respectively. Broilers fed urea treated RMW had a significantly higher ~ (P<0.05) daily weight gain than those fed potash, water treated and untreated diets. Those fed the control (Treatment 1) diet had a daily weight gain that was significantly higher (P<0.05) than that of broiler fed the other diets. The amount of money (+) saved on feed cost as a result of feeding various treated or untreated RMW diets to broiler finisher showed that the highest saving of *©17.23 was made from urea treated RMW diet where the least was from potash treated RMW diet. These resulted in a percentage cost saving of 10.45, 12.71, 9.67 and 10.18% on the control, untreated, urea, potash and water treated RMW diets respectively. The results showed that upto 25% RMW treated with urea is recommended for optimum growth and economic gain for broiler finishers.
