ABSTRACT

This research was carried out to examine the effect ofstoring containers and places ofstorage on quality ofpalm oil in Ahiazu Mbaise, Imo State, Nigeria. 50mls offreshly processed palm oil was collected using sterile storage containers and were stored at room temperature on different i ; were collected at tluee (3) weeks interval; the parameters analysed were moisture content, free fatty acid, acid value, saponification value, carotene and cholesterol. The result obtained after analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed that there were significant difference (P<0.05) in the physiochemical properties of the three week storage and method of storage respectively; result oftlie findings also showed that the first week quality ofthe palm oil samples investigated were close to standard recommended by SON (2000) and NIS (1992); therefore it was conclude that first week oil samples investigated were processing and storage indicated the suitability of the oil samples for domestic or industrial application as well as export trade.
