ABSTRACT
The research was carried out at the Federal University of Agriculture. Umudike with the aim of finding the effect of spacing and weeks after planting on the dry matter yield of African yam bean. For this study, data was got from Dr. D. A. Okpara of the Department of Crop Science, Federal University of Agriculture, Umudike. The ultimate objective of this study is to determine the spacmg that produced the best yield The mcthod analysis employed %the randomized complete block design. The result of the analysis indicate that the spacing that produced maximum yield are: Lxi, lxO.75 and lxO.5 all in meters and dry matter yield increased with weeks after planting. Recommendation was strictly based on analysis of data collected and observation with the various respondents and the recommendation is that farmers should use the spacing lxi, lxO.75, lxO.5 since produced the maximum yield of African yam bean.
