ABSTRACT

The study investigated on impact ofpersonal income tax on revenue generation in Nigeria (2006-2015). The objectives ofthe study are ascertain the extent to which personal income tax collected influence total revenue generation in Nigeria, examine the impact of personal income tax on infrastructural development in Nigeria. To achieve the objectives ofthe study, ex postfacto design was adopted. The researcher adopted secondary data in getting the required information. Data were collectedfrom CBN statistical bulletin and FIRS. In testing the hypotheses, regression analysis was used was used. The findings revealed that Personal income tax has a significant impact on revenue generation in Nigeria. Thefindings further revealed that Personal income tax has a significant impact on infrastructural development in Nigeria. The researcher recommends that government should try and appoint capable and worthy hands who can able to manage and curb the high level offraud encountered in collecting tax. The researcher also recommends that Government should set out a staffrules against corruptpractices which is rampant with its officials.
