Effect of Internal Control System in Government Establishments (A Study of Selected Parastatals in Imo State)

ABSTRACT

 The researcher writes on the Effect of Internal Control System in Government Establishment. Survey research design was adopted for the study. Primary data was adopted by the use of questionnaire. Data were also collected through journals, newspapers, textbooks, publication of government agencies and magazines. Chi-square was used to test the hypotheses. Results show after testing the first hypothesis, it was found that effective internal control system exists in the establishment being used as a study. The result also shows that from the second hypothesis that internal control helps to detect errors and fraud in government establishments. Based on the results, the researcher recommends that since internal control system in government establishment is effective, a sound internal control system should be installed in each unit because failure to do this is bound to fail and the attainment of its objectives is rendered impossible.
