ABSTRACT

 The study investigated the effect of effect of hydro-alcohol extract ofAmaranthus hybridus on weight and liver architecture ofthioacetamide induced hepatotoxicity. Six groups of animals were used with six rats in each group: The control sets were made up of positive, negative and normal while test groups were treated with lOOmg/kg, 200mg/kg and 400mg/kg body weight of Amaranthus hybridus. The administration of the Amaranthus hybridus extract was orally at single doses per day for nine (9) consecutive weeks. Treatment with TAA showed evident signs of injuries to the liver, and reduced animal weight. Those treated with Amaranthus hybridus extract gained weight compared to those without treatment.
