ABSTRACT

 This research work is geared towards investigating die effect of gender on the academic performance of graduated students of statistics department in Michael Okpara University ot agriculture Umudike. The instruments used to this end were gender and final CGPA of the graduated students of this department from 2006 2007 to 2'112'2013 academic sessions: the instruments are secondary1 data which were collected from exams and records Michael Okpara University of agriculture Umudike. The result of this test indicated that gender does not have any significant effect on the academic performance of students in statistics department; it was also observed that there exists a negative linear relationship between gender and academic performance of students in this department Based on the findings of this research work it was recommended that both male and female students/jambites should develop interest in mathematics related disciples like statistics and that students who have chosen this discipline should be made to understand the fact that gender is not a determinant of academic performance ofstudents in statistics department.
