Effect of financial management on survival of public sector organizations in Nigeria. (A study of public sectors in Abia state):- Nwankwo Chikanma E

ABSTRACT

This study examines the effect offinancial management on the survival ofpublic sector organisations in Nigeria (a study ofPublic Sectors in Abia State, Nigeria). The researcher adopted descriptive and survey research designfor the study. The datafor the study emergedfrom primary sources. The population ofthe study is forty-five (45), while the sample size isforty (40). Several statistical tools such as tables, percentages, and simple regression model were employed in the analyses of data and testing of the formulated hypotheses. The study revealed that Financial management has significant effects on public sector organisations, at 5% level ofsignificant;that Financial management has no significant effects on the performance ofpublic sector organisations in Abia state government; that the effect offinancial management on managerial competency of public sector organisations in Abia State government is significant, finally, that there is no significant effect offinancial management on policyformulation ofpublic sector organisations in Abia State government. The study recommends among other things that, Government should ensure that professionals are employed to handle financial unit of the public Sector, so as to tackle the problem of fund mismanagement, and thatproper book ofaccounts are maintained.
