ABSTRACT Tax administration remains a critical function ofgovernment revenue mobilization, yet many State Boards of Internal Revenue in Nigeria continue to rely on inefficient, manual processes that are prone to errors, delays, fraud, and low compliance. This project focuses on the development of a web-based automated tax management system tailored to the operational needs of a state-level revenue authority. The system aims to streamline taxpayer registration, automate tax computation, facilitate secure payment submissions, issue digital tax clearance certificates, and provide administrative dashboards for monitoring and reporting. The Waterfall Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) model was adopted as the methodology for system development. The study began with a thorough analysis of the existing manual processes using qualitative methods such as interviews, questionnaires, and document reviews. System requirements were specified and transformed into a structured design featuring a three-tier architecture: a user-friendly front-end interface, a backend application logic layer (implemented using PHP/Node.js), and a secure relational database (MySQL/PostgreSQL).
