Determine The Antibiotic Susceptibility Profile Of Bacteria Isolated From Vegetable Leaves In Umuahia, Abia State

ABSTRACT

This study was to evaluate the antibiotic susceptibility profile of bacteria isolated from vegetable leave in Umuahia, Abia state. A total of 1 0 samples were collected from different market and were analyzed in laboratory. Out of the 10 samples four different bacteria genera were isolated which include Escheric/iia co/i, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella species, and Shigella species. uiuezi.v had highest percentage occurrence ol 40% while the least percentage occurrence of 10% was recorded by Shigella species. The antibiotic susceptibility test carried out shows that uIinoiiella spp was the most sensitive organisms while Staphylococcus aureus was seen to be the most resistant organisms. The Percentage sensitivity and resistance of the isolates to di fThrent antibiotics shows that Staphylococcus au/ens, I coil and Kiebsiella spp recorded the highest sensitivity of each to the antibiotics used while the least percentage sensitivity of 25.0% as recorded by .vhigelia spp
