ABSTRACT VIII Trichomonas vaginalis (T. vaginalis ) is an anaerobic-flagellated pear-shaped highly predatory obligate protozoan parasite which is extracellular to the genitourinary tract epithelium. The aim ofthis work is therefore to determine the prevalence of Trichomonas vaginalis infection among undergraduate female students in Microbiology department in Michael Okpara University Agriculture Umudike.. A total of 80 specimens investigated under study comprises of 44 Endocervical swab specimen (HVS) and 36 urine specimen. Endo-cervical swab, High virginal swap(HVS) has 9 positive clinically suspected cases of Trichomonas vaginalis with percentage of(20.5%) and total number of negative 35(79.5%) respectively. While total number of positive ofsuspected cases of Trichomonas vaginalis in urine specimen were 5(13.9%) and total number of negative 31(86.1%). This study also showed that infection weresignificantly higher in singles than married women
