ABSTRACT

Having realized the inherent risk associated with the switching ON and OFF of security lights, this project was intended to focus at the design and construction of an automatic security light control system. An automatic security light control system when powered will be switching ON security light automatically at night. It will also switch it OFF automatically when the day breaks. It works on the principle of light activated switch. The circuit has a 220V ac mains at 50Hz which is stepped down to 12V ac before rectifier. Then the light dependent resistor i.e photo resistor (LDR) was used to detect light. The 555 timer which operated in a stable mode and the transistor constituted the switching section. The relay was then used to operate the 240V lamp. Without doubt, this project which has been tested and found working will add to the effort made so far to ensure optimum utilization and effective control of security light.ABSTRACT
