Debt Management Strategies In Nigerian Commercial Banks (A Study Of Access Bank Plc)

ABSTRACT
In every organization, there must be an atom of debt and this therefore makes debt management strategies an important factor in every organization especially in commercial banks where loans and advances are given out to customers who demand for them. Debt management strategies are examined in this research work because debt cannot be totally eliminated but can be minimized to its barest minimum. This is achieved using simple regression model to test the strategy most suitable for banks to adopt in lending money in the form of loan and advances and also recovering those debts. This work also helps banks to accept a clear and manageable debt control policy, minimize those factors responsible for bad and doubtful debts. It will also assist Central bank in adopting consistent credit policies to assist commercial banks in their decision making. It considers the reasons for bad and doubtful debts, signs of bad and doubtful debts and strategies for debt management in commercial banks
