ABSTRACT The cyanogenic potential and partial purification of B-glucosidasc was carried out on a and biochemical methods. The distribution of cyanogenic glycosides (CNGs) in the leaves, pulp and peel gave cyanide level in parts per million (ppm) 100.188, 168.300 and 45.67, respectively for wet preparation, and 315.216, 18.216 and 22.572, respectively for dry preparation. The carotenoid content ofthe fresh pulp was found to be 4.5mg/g. partial purification using the ammonium sulphate precipitation method yielded an enzyme of activity 5.6units/ml and specific activity of 0.96units/mg protein.
