ABSTRACT
This project ( I KY A inverter) was built using locally sourced electrical components, and a 12V DC battery as its power source. The basic principle of operation of this device is a simple conversion of 12V DC from a battery, to an output of at least 220V AC across the winding of a transformer, using integrated circuit (IC) and semiconductor elements such as: diodes, MOSFET etc., at a frequency of SO Hz. Firstly, the 12V DC signal from the battery is converted to 12V AC signal by the inverter circuit, and then stepped-up to 220V AC output by the transformer, which is fed to the load. Without the source of EMF (the battery), the inverter circuit is just a passive circuit. Hence the battery activates the inverter circuit by biasing them into action.
