COMPUTERIZATION OF ACCOUNTING SYSTEM IN NIGERIAN BANKS (A STUDY OF DIAMOND BANK NIGERIA Pl...G OWERRI AND UNION BANK PLC UMUAHIA NIGERIA)

ABSTRACT

The   topic   of  this   project  work   is  Computerization     of  Accounting System   in 'Nigerian   Banks;   many banks in  Nigeria   are  claiming that a.re fully  computerized  in  their   accounting   system.    Some   even   use   iL  as an  advertisement   gimmick.  Based  on  this and   the need   to improve bank services     through    the    use  of   computes    in   our    banks,    the  research therefore took  up  a study   on  the  computerization   of accounting  system  in Nigerian  banks    (a  study of Diamond  Bank   PLC  Owcrri   and   Union   Bank of  Nigeria    PLC  Umuahia).    This   projecr    work   firstly   highlighted   on   the statement    of   problem    prior     Lo    Dia morid    IJank     and    Union      Bank computerization   and    the    purpose   of   the   study  i.e.   how   the   work   is projected  towards  investigating  and   identifying  the   problems   facing  the banks      that     fail    to    automate    their     service     on    the     effect    of    the computerization  of accounting  system in  banks  and also   the  significance of the  study. The  literature review   elaborated  on  the  study   and how  they arc    directed       towards    the    accounting       system    ·l>cforc       and      after computerization  of Diamond  Bank  PLC  and   Union   Bank of Nigeria   PLC. Reflecting  on  this   development,    the re search  made   use   of  sample  plan, hypothesis,   sample  frame,   sample  size.   field  interviews   and   observation, questionnaire,    sample     procedure,     data     reliability    and    data   analysis techniques,  to  find,   analyze,   present   and  interpret   the   response   of  the employees   and    customers    towards   the  computerization    of  accounting system     in   Diamond   Bank    and    Union    Bank    of   Nigeria    PLC.     Finally, computerization  of accounting  system of Diamond  Bank  PLC and  Union Bank    of  Nigeria   PLC  has   been    seen    as   a  worthwhile  venture    and   will continue to  help   in  the recent    call  for  technological  advancement    of our great country  Nigeria.
