ABSTRACT
Pleurotus pulmonarius and Pleurotus tuber-regium were grown on three plant wastes — Gmelina sawdust, Ceiba petandra (Apu) sawdust and rice straw. For established reasons, sawdust is a better substrate than Rice straw substrate for the cultivation of Pleurotus mushroom. Supplementation influenced mycelial growth and conditions that fell within the tolerance ranges of Pleurotus mushroom were observed. There are good prospects for the cultivation of Pleurotus mushroom using sawdust which is cheap and always available.
