ABSTRACT
The results ofthe analysis carried out show that the carbohydrate content of the fruit body of P. pulmonarius grown on edible grass substrates was highest (78.36%) followed by (77.75%) and (71.31%) on Ceiba pentandra substrates and Oryza saliva shown respectively. On crude fibre and lipids, mushroom fruit body grown on Oryza saliva straw was highest s with 3.4%, 6.20% , followed by Acasia leaf (2.15%) and edible grass Permiseptum spp (2.10%), while that grown on Acasia leaf had the least lipid content (4.85%). Similarly Gmelina saw dust produced mushroom fruit body with highest Niacin (0.90rng) followed by Acasia leaf (0.70mg) Oryza saliva straw had the highest thiamin (0.60%) and (8.05mg) ascorbic acid while Acasia leaf produced fruit bodies with the lowest thiamin (0.30mg). Oryza saliva straw had fruit bodies with lowest ascorbic acid (5.03mg). on riboflavin composition (0.70mg) followed by edible grass Permiseptum spp (0.60mg) while Gmelina saw dust had the least with (0.40mg). On bioactive compound compositions, mushroom grown on Acasia leaves had the highest alkaloid (0.0Img) while other substrates had the same alkaloid content. (0.005mg) each. P. pulmonarius grown on edible grass Permiseptum spp produced the highest phenol (0.130mg) followed by Gmelina saw dust (0.127mg) while Oryza saliva saw produced the least phenol content (0.006mg). Gmelina saw dust had the highest saponin composition with Acasia leaf (0.9mg) each, followed by Oryza saliva straw (0.8mg) while Permiseptum spp produced tire least with (0.4mg).
