ABSTRACT
The study compared the performance of secondary school students in the Southeast region using results of students in West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in Nigeria over the period, 2005-2011. The data used for this project were collected from the National Bureau of Statistics with reference to Annual Abstract of Statistics .The data were analyzed using the Friedman’s test, Descriptive Statistics and Chi-Square test of independence. The result of the study revealed that there exist significant differences in the performances of students in the gender, States and Years Studied. The Criteria State, Year, and Gender based on which the performance of the students were classified, were found not to be mutually independent
