ABSTRACT

 The occurrence of road accidents in Abia State has been of result this research work has examined the Com • ° & C°nCem to the citizens and as a Metropolis for the period 2010 - 2013 with 6 Analysis ofroad accidents’ data in Umuahia piiee S,a,ion, Umuahia. Ana,zmg and describing the data using tools iike the mu.tip.e bar chart, the Friedmann test, the tekal Wallis H test, the Ch,-square test for goodness of fit and independence, it was discovered ,tat majority of the road accidents are caused by human factors Hite over speeding, recklessness, drink,ng and driving, drug abuse, arrogance and illiteracy. Number ofreported cases ofroad accident I isnot uniformly distributed across the years and vehicle types, and the casualties in road accident are dependent on the vehicle type involved. As a way to check road accidents on our roads, the research work advised that theie should be proper training and checking ofdrivers that ply our roads.
