Comparative Analyses Of Students’ Academic Performances In The First And Second Teaching Practice Exercises Among Abia State University Education Students:- Akanwa, U.N

Abstract The researcher investigated the difference between the performance of the student teachers in their first and second attempts of teaching practice. The results of the teaching practice of the students who graduated from the faculty of education in 1997/98 session and 1998/99 session were used. There were 37studentsfor 1997/98 and 1998/99 sessions. The difference between their raw scores was compared using tteststatistics. The resultshowed that there wassignificance in thefirst attempt and that of the second attempt. The performance in the second attempt was better than the performance in the first attempt. The implication is that learning has taken place between the first and second attempt, which brought about the improvement in performance. It is recommended that supervision be done by lecturers and corrections made, as students are likely to improve is an important aspect of the teaching and learning process.
