ABSTRACT

The study investigated the appraisal of financial statement in evaluating organizational performance of banks. The major objective of the study is to examine the effect of financial statement in evaluating organizational performance of banks and to ascertain the effect of profit after tax on the return on capital employed of banks. To achieve the objectives of the study, ex pose factor research design was adopted. The researcher adopted secondary data in getting the required information. In testing the hypothesis simple linear regression analysis was used. The findings revealed that liquidity has a positive impact on profit after tax and that there is no significant relationship between profit after tax and return on capital employed. The researcher recommended that the financial ratio analysis should be properly appraised in banks in other for the management to identi)5' the strength and weakness inherent in the system as the serves as performance indicator, the researcher also recommended that the financial statement should be prepared and presented in such a way to aid proper and accurate comparison.
