APPLICATION OF SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY ACCOUNTING IN A BUSINESS ORGANIZATION (PROSPECTS AND CHALLENGES)

ABSTRACT

Some business organizations  do  not apply social responsibility aa:ounting. Many accounting groups too are also ignorant  of this aspect of accounting. Based on this, the study centres on The Application of Social Responsibility Accounting in a Business Organization (Prospects   and challenges). An  investigation    was  carried  out  via literature review. The primary data used were personal interview of chief accountants, administrative   managers as well as chiefs of host mnmunities to ascertain the reality on the ground mnceming  the subject matter. The semndary data were rollected from already existing information related to the study which indudes textbooks, journals, newspapers and the internet. The population was 100 while sample size was 80. Thestatistic.al  instrument used was the  chi-square based on the topic, some of the findings were that social responsibility accounting  is applied in business organizations,  and  it  improves the  standard of  living  of host  communities. The researcher recommended  that social performance  of business  organizations   should be disdosed in their annual reports and a course on social responsibility   accounting should be included in university curricula.
