\BSIKVC T xiii Antioxidants and blood glucose level effect of methanol extract of Justii ia carnca (.1.0 leaves on high fat diet (IUD)- induced obesity on wistar albino rats was evaluated. The animals were divided into five groups of four animals each. However, administration of different doses ofJ.C significantly increased the GPX activity and GSH level when compared with rats treated with HFD only meanwhile a significant reduction was observed in malondialdelyde level (MDA) in the groups treated with different doses of J.c extract (200, 500 and lOOOmg kg bw) when compared with the group treated with HFD only. The result showed that methanol leaves extracts ofJusticia cainea at a higher dose may lower high blood glucose level induced by 11FD and poses antioxidant effect bur does not have any effect on the body weight.
