Antimicrobial contaminations are frequently involved in herbal products since all products are from plants, but in some cases, they are in large amount and may include pathogenic species. This calls for evaluation of microbial content of herbal remedies using agar well diffusion method. The objective of current study was conducted to investigate the validation of the claims of two polyherbal decoctions (Goko cleanser herbal mixture and HB cleanser herbal mixture) sold in Nigerian markets. The microorganisms isolated are Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus cereus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Candida albicians and Aspergillus niger. The results have demonstrated that preparation has microbial property as claimed and also it is indicated on the result with no zone of inhibition even at the highest concentration (100%). In addition the result demonstrated that the herbal product used to evaluate possess antimicrobial activity of selected microorganisms. The antibiotics sensitive results show that the microorganisms used in the evaluation are sensitive organisms, i.e non resistant ones. This study revealed that polyherbal remedies sold in Nigerian markets are incorrect preparation and they are contaminated.
