ABSTRACT

The antimicrobial activities of ethanol and cold water extracts ofHeinsia criniia on Escherichia coll. Siaphylaeocais aureus and Candida alhlam, were “lracB of the test plants showed inhibition ofthe three test organisms. The ethanol extract of Crimla profoundly inhibited the growth of S. aureus. Ecall and C. with ition zone diameter being 13.9mm, ,0.3mm a„d 7.6mm. The cold water extract of  the growth of5. aureus. E call and C. albicans with diameter zone ofinhibition being 10.6mm, 8.8mm and 6.9m. This revealed that H. criniia have antimicrobial activities on S. “mE. coli and C. albicans and probably could be used to control infections associated with these organisms.
