Antibiotic Susceptibility Pattern Of Bacteria Isolated From Urine Of Students In Michael Okpara University Of Agriculture Umudike Clinic, Abia State, Nigeria:- Loveday, Emmanuel I

ABSTRACT

A total of sixty samples of urine were collected from students in Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike Clinic to isolate and determine the antibiotic sensitivity profile of bacterial isolates associated with urinary tract .infections. The isolates include: Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli and staphylococcus aureus. The antibiotic sensitivity testing revealed that ciprofloxacin was the most sensitive to all the three bacteria II. coli, 20.75, Staphylococcus aureus 22.06, pseudomonas aeruginosa 20.35. Gentamicin were the second most sensitive. All the isolate were sensitive to all the antibiotic except for penicillin which was not sensitive at all to all the isolate. The antibiotic sensitive pattern of the isolate reveal high sensitivity to antibiotic not frequently used for the treatment of UTI and high resistance to antibiotic commonly used.
