Analysis Of The Effect Of Internal Audit On The Performance Of Public Sector In Nigeria (A Study Of Isuikwuato Local Government Area Of Abia State)

ABSTRACT

 The main objective of this study is to analyse the effect of internal audit on the performance of public sector. The researcher reviewed related literature on the topic. The researcher used three hypotheses in this study to prove the effect of internal on the performance of public sector. Data collected were analysed using tables and percentage. Correlation was used to veri)5.' the formulated hypotheses. The researcher after the analysis of data found out the following. Poor remuneration has no signficant effect on internal audit performance in the public sector. Inadequate knowledge of electronic data processing has no significant effect on internal audit performance. The work recommended that Proper trainings should be carried out to the internal audit staff on electronic data processing and accounting packages. Prompt payment of staff remuneration should be done to avoid the staff using that as an excuse to effect fraud since its effect on performance of the sector is still currently ins ignficant.
