ABSTRACT
Before Nigeria attained independence in 1960, Agriculture provided most of the country food earned most of her foreign exchange and generated a significant proportion of government revenue, an estimated number of about 80 percent of the population were engaged in food production and there was enough food for the entire population (Aeoyemi, 1981)
