A time series analysis of the monthly retail price of Garri in Abia State from (2001- 2006):- Amajoh Sandra I

ABSTRACT

This work is a lime series analysis of the relative prices or Garri in Abia Stale for six years (200 I- 2006). The aims of applying time series are: the prices arc in monthly interval and to verify the time series model which influences changes in the relative prices, to verify if growth exist in trend and to forecast the future prices of Garri. 'The data was subjected to time series analysis using minitab software which revealed the prominence or long term trend, in differencing, stationarity is realized an appropriate model ARIMA (2,1,0) was lilied and a look at autocorrelation function of residual it indicates that the data is random .Based on these results, some recommendations arc maul! as follows: Government should subsidize inputs such as fertilizer etc further mechanization should be applied with vigour. Government should not embark on storage or the plant as its price is not affected by season.
