ABSTRACT

We reviewed and compared methods of solution for integral equations with concentration on approximation methods. We gave an introduction to integral equations, and reviewed particularly three of the approximation methods, namely: the Adomian decomposition method, the successive approximation method and the method of successive substitutions. The result showed that the method of decomposition offers more ease in its application, whereas, the methods of successive approximations and successive substitutions apply to a larger scope of integral equations but with more computations and calculations. Hence, we discovered that the decomposition method among the methods of approximations reduces the size of computations, followed by the method of successive approximations.
