ABSTRACT
Complexes of nickel and cobalt have been synthesized using 4 — amino — 2, 3 — dimethyl- 1 - phenyl - 3 - pyrazolin - 5 - one. The nature of the complexes and ligand were proposed based on infrared spectroscopy, ultra violet spectroscopy, melting point, solubility and colour. The ligand, 4 — amino — 2, 3 — dimethyl — 1 - phenyl - 3 - pyrazolin - 5 - one coordinated to cobalt and nickel ions through the C=O and NH2 functional groups. The ligand behaved as a bidentate ligand, square planar geometry was proposed for the complexes.
