Time Series Analysis Of Total Monthly Revenue Generated From Ikwuano Local Government Area (2004-2010)
ABSTRACT
Over the years, the
Local Government Council takes direct care of the grassroots people that is
people in the rural areas and has also contributed in the development of the
area. This research work was carried out to developing a stationary time series
model suitable for monthly revenue data of Ikwuano Local Government Area. The
data for this work were secondary data collected from council's revenue service
in Ikwuano L.G.A and covers the period January 2004 to December 2010. Box and
Jenkins method of time series analysis were employed as a tool for analysis.
Autocorrelation function and partial-autocorrelation function of the
differenced series were used to identify a stationary model for the data i.e.
ARIMA (111). MINITAB was used to estimate the parameters of the model
developed. Diagnostics checking for model adequacy was carried out. Diagnostics
checking showed that the residuals are white noise and the stationary model was
adequate. Forecast values were generated for two years; the forecast values
included l2months back forecast for year 2010 and l2months forecast for 2011.
The forecast for year 2011 showed that revenue generated from Ikwuano L.G.A
increases slightly from month to month
