ABSTRACT

This study investigated the influence of primary mortgage institutions (P4' i n Nigerian economic growth. It specifically investigated the influence of PMI investm'r ?MI loans, PMI deposits and number of primary mortgage institutions (PMI) on :t economic growth proxied by real gross domestic product. The study adopted ex pci o research design. A time series data spanning from 1992 to 2017 were collected fror iL1s;atistical bulletin 2017 for the study. Ordinary least square regression technique was :iopted. The analysis was conducted with Econometrics Views (EViews) version I the result indicated that primary mortgage institutions have significant influence on Nii i economic growth. Specifically, the results indicated that primary mortgage institutions' ft stmcnts has negative and insignificant influence on Nigerian economic growth. Secondi - hat primary mortgage institutions loan has negative and significant effect on Nigerian t'Jc growth. Thirdly, the primary mortgage institutions deposits have positive and signift :.t impact on Nigerian economic growth. Finally, the number of primary mortgage insJ tio.ris have negative and significant impact on Nigerian economic growth.
