ABSTRACT
The study investigated the impact of monetary policy variables on commercial banks performance in Nigeria. The data were sourced from National Deposit Insurance Commission (NDIC) annual report and Central Bank of Nigeria statistical bulletin from 2000 to 2017. Ordinary least square of multiple regression was used to analysed the data. Monetary policy rate and cash reserve ratio has positive and sign fIcant impact on commercial banks performance in Nigeria, while liquidity ratio has negative and sign/Icant impact on commercial banks performance in Nigeria. The study recommend that in order to strengthen the financial sector, the Central Bank has to encourage the introduction of more financial instrument that are flexible to meet the risk preference and sophistication of operators in the financial industry in Nigeria.
