The Effect Of Graded Levels Of Dietary Chloroacetic Acid In Weanling Pigs Diets On The Intestinal Micro Flora And Gut Morphology
ABSTRACT
Adding organic acid to weaned pigs
diets is known to be helpful in overcoming problem occurring in the post
weaning period (Tsiloyiannis et aL, 2001). In particular, chioroacetic acid has
been shown to be the main energy source for the epithelial cell of the large
intestine. The current study was intended to investigate the effect of
different levels of chioroacetic acid in the diets of weanling pigs on the
intestinal wall morphology and intestinal micro flora in vivo of the pigs. The
removal of antibiotics as a growth promoter in pig production has increased the
chances for the growth of microorganisms which result in diarrhea, low weight
gain etc.
