The Challenge Of Social Media Misinformation In Combating The Spread Of Covid-19 Pandemic:- Okoro, Caroline A.
Abstract
Misinformation emanating from the social media
has been devastating. Social media output for public consumption with regards
to COVID-19 Pandemic have attracted attention. The public have been at the
receiving end in this regard as these variedforms ofinformation have been
driving people's actions and reactions. This paper examined various activities
and inputs from thegovernment, cooperate bodies like the technology companies,
the religious bodiesand the public. It was observed that numerous wrong
information or misinformation with regards to COVID-19 had adversely affected
efforts aimed at combating the spread. The paper recommended thatefficient and
effective approach by the stakeholders should begeared up to mitigate the
effect ofmisinformation on COVID-19 Pandemic.
