ABSTRACT
The Spatial and Temporal Evaluation
of Idaw River for Irrigation Purposes were carried out. Sample were collected
from six different positions (three upstream samples and three downstream
samples) and were used for analysis. The physicochemical parameter analyzed
includes Temperature, Turbidity, Total Dissolved Solids, Electrical
Conductivity, Alkalinity, Acidity, Salinity, pH, Chloride, Total Hardness,
Sulphate, Phosphate, Sodium, Potassium and Sodium Absorption ratio. Results
obtained showed that the mean values of T.D.S 44.6 a ± 2.30 before deposited and
76•7b ± 3.75 after deposited. The average pH values of the water (6.42 to 6.46)
were slightly below the FAQ and WHO standard of 6.5 to 8.5. Most of the
chemical parameters analyzed were within the FAQ and WI-JO standard limits.
Hence, the results fall within the range of FAO standard for irrigation.
