ABSTRACT
Information and Communications Technology is
so essential in all aspects of the economy. It is based on this relevance that
I chose to study the Relevance of Information and Communications Technology on
Accounting. United Bank for Africa, UBA, has been chosen amongst the numerous
banks in Nigeria for the purpose ofthis research. The study will find the
impact ofICT in the efficient and effective preparation of accounting records,
analyze the problems associated with Information Technology and explore the
overall importance ofICT in accounting. Necessary Literature will be reviewed
and thus will confirm the various types of Communication method that leads to
high performance in the accounting sector; examples are the use Computers,
internet and information through satellites. The study will also confirm that
lack of information may lead to backwardness ofthe firm’s competitive power.
The data collected is analyzed and converted later to PIE CHART. The summary,
conclusion and recommendation will show how the study was conducted, summarized
and what was later recommended and even suggestions for further studies.
