ABSTRACT

From ancient times till date the creation and management of records has always been significant and relevant. Institutions are becoming increasingly aware of the likely value contained within the internal records they have. As volumes of information increases, it becomes necessary for the academic library to create and maintain reliable records management system for accountability and efficiency in pursuit of the goals of the establishing body. Good records management is important to keeping -up with efficient routine and methods of operation. The knowledge of the records you created and where they can be located will save you some energy and also put an end to time wastage in searching for the information. More so among the more obvious benefits of records management implementation, is a reduction in costs and increased protection of your information. Mulholland (2017) opined that 'a craftsman is only as good as their toolkit allows them to be, and thus a Consultant can only create business systems effectively and increase their client's efficiency if they know the limits of their tools'.
