ABSTRACT
This work was done to analysis the performance of Muscovy duck fed some dietary additive. It was done in Michael Okpara University Agriculture, were 60 ducks were randomly selected into 4 treatments (control as treatment 1, M. myristica as treatment 2, poultry zyme treatment 3 and molasses as treatment 4) there were 3 replicate per treatment. After the experiment there were no Mortality recorded, the following data was collected and analyzed. The Growth performance showed (p<O.OS) significant difference across the treatment, in all the parameters with treatment 3 been the highest followed by treatment 2 and 1 lastly treatment 4. The Economics of Production showed (p<O.05) significant difference in the Cost Per Weight gain with treatment 2(0.22), treatment 3(0.18), treatment 1 and 4(0.12, 0.11) respectively. Cost of Production shows (p<O.05) with treatment 2 and 3 with (472.54, 474.46) and treatment I with (250.20) and treatment 4(221.63), there were (p>0.05) no significant difference in the Cost of Feed per Bird. Revenue and Gross Margin showed (p<0.05) significant difference with treatment 3, been the best followed by treatment 2 and treatment 1 and 4 are the same. In the individual cut parts analysis the Wing Cut part shows that (p<0.05 )in the protein content, fats, ash and moisture. The thigh cut part showed a (p<O. 05) in all the parameter, the Breast Cut shows protein, ash are (p<0.05) significant different expect for fat fiber and moisture content that is (P>O.05) not significantly different to each other. The Back Cut pat shows a (p<0.05) significantly different in all the parameters. The drumstick cut part shows that fat and moisture content are (p<0.05) significantly different but protein, fiber and ash are (p>O.05) not significantly different among the treatments. The nutrient composition of the full carcass shows that there are (p>O. 05) no significant difference in the protein, fats and moisture contents among the treatments but fiber and ash are (p<0. 05) significantly different. It was gathered that poultry zyme was the best additive in terms of revenue generation and its cheaper, but for no much the nutrient composition it shows that there were significant difference it treatments
