Perception Of Teachers' On The Use Of ICT In The Teaching And Learning Of Biology In Senior Secondary Schools In Isi-Uzo Local Government Area Of Enugu State.
ABSTRACT
This study adopted a descriptive
survey research design and was carried out in four selected senior secondary
school in Isi-Uzo L.G.A of Enugu State. It was set to identify perception of
teachers' on the use of ICT in the teaching and learning of biology in senior
secondary school. The study examined the level of teachers compliance to usage
of ICT in teaching and learning of biology in secondary schools, the problem of
ICT accessibility in teaching and learning of biology in secondary schools. A
random sampling technique was used to select 20 biology teachers and 180
biology students in four schools out of 10 secondary schools in Isi-Uzo L.G.A
of Enugu State. Those research questions guided the study while three
hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. Questionnaire with four
modified likert scale were used for data collection and was validated by three
experts in research in the department. The reliability coefficient of the
instruments was established using cronbach Alpha with a value of 0.82. The
results revealed that information and communication technology were not
effectively utilized for teaching and learning of biology in secondary schools.
It was recommended that training of biology science teachers should be reviewed
on use of information and communications technologies for teaching and learning
of biology science in secondary schools.
