Influence Of Learner-Centered Leadership Style Of Secondary School Principals On Students’ Academic Performance In Umuahia North L.G.A. Of Abia State:- Nzerem-Oparaku, Mercy O.
ABSTRACT
This study investigated the influence
oflearner-centered leadership styles ofsecondary school principals on students’
academic performance in Umuahia North L.G.A. ofAbia State. The design ofthe
study was a survey research design. The population comprises all the 838
teachers in senior secondary schools in Umuahia North Local Government Area of
Abia State. 150 teachers was sampled from the population. A structured
questionnaire tagged "Learner-Centered Leadership Style Questionnaire
(LCLSQ)” was used to collect the data for the study. Four research questions
and one hypothesis guided the study. Data collected for the study were
analyzed. Percentage was used to answer the research questions, while the
hypothesis was analyzed using Chi-Square statistical technique. The findings
ofthe study revealed that learner-centered leadership style had a great positive
influence on students’ academic performance. Based on this finding, it was
recommended among other things that regular courses, workshops, seminars be
organized for principals in order to impact them with the knowledge and use of
learner-centered leadership styles for the enhancement of students’ academic
performance
